Michigan City car accident lawyer discusses 4 tips to help avoid a road rage incident.
A couple of years ago I remember reading about a road rage incident in the newspaper. In that case one car cut off another car and the drivers started yelling at each other. When the vehicles reached the next traffic light. A guy got out of his car and went to the other guy's car and punched the dude in this face.
The other day, I was driving on the highway and this guy kept on tailgating me. I was unable to move over because of traffic and the guy continued to stay on my rear. As time went on I became more and more pissed. I was eventually able to move over to the right lane and the jerk passed me. As the jerk passed, I was pissed and just about to start tailgating him and then I came to my senses.
So how can you avoid becoming a victim of road rage in Northwest Indiana?
Stay far behind erratic drivers . Call 911 to report their location from a safe distance.
Stay in your car . Even if you think you might be able to help, do not pull over to speak to an aggressive driver.
Do not drive home . If you are being followed by an aggressive driver, drive to a heavily populated public area or a police station for help.
Be the bigger person . Even if the angry driver is to blame for an accident or “near miss,” do not gesture, yell at or otherwise threaten the other guy.
Sometimes people get very emotional when driving. We should always try to keep our heads and sense when driving throughout Northwest Indiana. If you have any questions about a Northwest Indiana car or road rage incident, call our office at (219) 874-4878.
